Ronald Allmon Robinette Obituary

Ronald Allmon Robinette was born March 8th, 1947, to Wilson Allmon Robinette and Hazel Brock Robinette in Albertville, Alabama. He grew up in Ensley and graduated from Ensley High School in 1965. Ron attended the University of Alabama, joined the National Guard, and then graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1970. He married Betty Colston in 1974. In 1980 they welcomed their oldest daughter, Dori, followed by their youngest daughter, Melanie, eighteen months later. Ronny always demonstrated his kind heart and love for his family as he, Betty, and the girls lived in Virginia, California, and Tennessee before finally moving back home to Birmingham 23 years ago. Ronny supported and encouraged all three of his girls to be all that they could be. He was their biggest encourager and Betty's "safe harbor." He had a special way of making each of them feel loved. His greatest joy was telling his favorite oldest daughter and his favorite youngest daughter that he loved them every single day, how pretty they were (even if they were looking rough), and that he "thoroughly enjoyed" any time spent together. He truly was the very best daddy a girl could have. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. He loved to make them laugh and to tell them how proud he was of them whenever he had the chance. He loved his sons-in-law, was proud to have them as his family, and he made sure they knew it too! Ronny enjoyed a career in management sales at Stockham Valves and Fittings. An avid car and driving enthusiast, for more than a decade he lived his passion working for Jim Burke Automotive in various roles. There is not a road in the South or a car on the street that he did not know! He was the original GPS and Kelley Blue Book. Ronny was honored to have been a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church for most of his life. An only child, Ronny had many cousins and lifelong friends that were more like brothers and sisters. If you knew him, you loved him, and he never let you go!

Ronny is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Dori (Chris) Lazenby, Melanie (Bryant) Cross; grandchildren, Audrey and Timothy Lazenby and Felton and Everett Cross; and a host of cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please honor Ronny by telling someone that you love them today or donating to Hunter Street Baptist Church Ministries to continue to demonstrate The Love he knew and shared with others.

Visitation will be Friday, February 17th at 9:30and the funeral will at 11am at Hunter Street Baptist Church.
