<p>John E. Gordon</p><p>RADM, JAGC, USN (Ret.)</p><p><br></p><p>John “Ted” Gordon of Trappe MD passed on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Beloved husband of 58 years to Dorothy “Sam” Gordon he is also survived by his children John E. Gordon Jr., Stephen (Laura) Gordon, and Elizabeth Gordon; grandchildren Austin and Kate Gordon, as well as his brother Bernard (Judy) Gordon.</p><p>Before retiring from military service in October 1992, Rear Admiral Gordon served as the Judge Advocate General of the Navy. Previously he served as the Deputy Judge Advocate General and as the Commander of the Navy Legal Service Command. He also served as the Commander of the Naval Security Investigative Command and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs) for Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger.</p><p>Prior to being promoted to flag rank, he served as the Deputy Navy Chief of Legislative Affairs (Senate) and for over four years as the Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy (John F. Lehman) for Legal and Legislative Affairs.</p><p>After commissioning from the United States Naval Academy (1964) as a Supply Corps Officer he served aboard two combatant ships the USS Josephus Daniels (DLG 27) and a Vietnam War zone deployment aboard the USS Joseph Strauss (DDG 16). He received his Juris Doctor degree from Temple University School of Law in 1973.</p><p>In his subsequent civilian career, Rear Admiral Gordon was the Senior Vice President Washington Operations for Alliant Techsystems Inc. and retired in 2007. Prior to that he worked for Litton Industries. In both positions he was responsible for all company interfaces with Congress, the Federal Government and other Washington based customers.</p><p>At the time of his death, he was a Trustee and Judge Advocate for the Naval Academy Foundation (Athletic and Scholarship Division).</p><p>Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Fort Myer Chapel at 11:00 followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery. John “Ted” Gordon of Trappe MD passed on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Beloved husband of 58 years to Dorothy “Sam” Gordon he is also survived by his children John E. Gordon Jr., Stephen (Laura) Gordon, and Elizabeth Gordon; grandchildren Austin and Kate Gordon, as well as his brother Bernard (Judy) Gordon.

Before retiring from military service in October 1992, Rear Admiral Gordon served as the Judge Advocate General of the Navy. Previously he served as the Deputy Judge Advocate General and as the Commander of the Navy Legal Service Command. He also served as the Commander of the Naval Security Investigative Command and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs) for Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger.
