Patrick S. Bolten Obituary

Patrick Shelby Bolten, Sr., 67, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2023. He is predeceased by his loving parents Norma and John Bolten, Sr.   Beloved husband of Cathy J. (Walker) (Wood) Bolten. He is survived by his three children, Maria Bolten LLambi (Leandro), Patrick Bolten, Jr. (Tiffany) and Tara (Wood) Flynn.  Grandfather “Pappy” To Pilar, Elena, Tico, Aubrey, and Brynlee and dear brother of Susan Stenger, John Bolten, Jr., Caroline Bolten, Jennifer Bolten McDonough, Brian Bolten and Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Patrick served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Constellation during the Vietnam War era.  He worked on the flight deck directing planes and was a crash firefighter. Three generations of military service, Patrick’s father served in the Marines in WWII and his son Patrick Bolten, Jr. served in the Army in the Middle East.

Patrick was an alumni of Western Hills High School where he was on the swimming team and a championship swimmer.  He worked at the University of Cincinnati for 20 years as well as attending school there.  Patrick loved his job and the people he worked with.  He especially loved Carol, Cheryl, and Brandy. He was also a stone mason and built beautiful things out of stone.

Patrick trained in and taught Tae Kwon Do for 25 years under the late Grand Master I.K. Kim.   Grand Master Kim was like a father figure to Patrick and he was Patrick’s greatest mentor.  Teaching children brought him a lot of joy.

Patrick loved animals and will be missed by his furry rescues Sam, Teddy, Minka, Buddy, Baby, Mama, and Miss Kitka.  Patrick loved to read and there would always be one or two bundles of fur sitting on his lap keeping him warm.

Patrick was always smiling and made friends easily. He never had a bad word for anyone and was a very happy person.  He was a loving father and very proud of his children’s many accomplishments.  He was dearly loved by his wife’s family. It is comforting to know he is in heaven with his BFF, his beloved brother-in-law, Bryan Walker.

Patrick was very proud of his Irish heritage and married an Irish girl.  They made a great team for 34 years.  Today the Irish eyes are crying. ☘
