He attended Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, KS.

As a child, Matt loved exploring with his two younger brothers Jacob and Benjamin Hallquist. They spent many summers at the Lake of the Ozarks which left a lasting impression on Matt. The Ozarks captured Matt’s heart, and he found a beautiful secluded property that he was proud to call his own. He enjoyed nature, walking along the creek, raising goats and chickens as well as hunting and fishing. He loved hosting friends and family and grilling some ribs.

Matt met Saige when she had car trouble and he allowed her to park her car on his property until she could get it fixed. Saige never left and they fell in love. Matt and Saige adored each other and on January 8, 2021, their first child, River Hallquist, was born. Their second child, Fisher Hallquist, was born September 23, 2022. Matt always wanted a family and absolutely loved being a father. He wanted to instill his boys with a love for the outdoors and raise them in an environment worth exploring. Matt had so much hope and optimism for his family’s future, always striving to make their lives better.

He was a loving son, big brother, partner, and father. He is survived by his partner Saige Lawren Vincent of Camdenton, MO, and sons River (2) and Fisher (4 months) Hallquist, mother Teresa Hallquist (Malvern Burnett) of Laurel, MS, father Todd Hallquist (Sophie Dupuis) of Ecuador, brothers Jacob Hallquist (Dallas Hallquist) of Memphis, TN and Benjamin Hallquist (Catalina Hallquist) of Laurel, MS, grandparents of his boys Heather and Heath Anderson of Camdenton, MO, grandmothers Anita Hallquist of Aurelia, IA and Rebecca Layher of Camdenton, MO. He was quick-witted, with an infectious smile, and could always make you laugh.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday 2/4/2023 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, MO from 12pm – 1pm, service beginning at 1pm to 1:30pm.
