Nancy Clara McConnaughey Lancaster passed to eternal life peacefully at home on January 18, 2023 at 88 years of age. Born August 4, 1934 in Rogers, Arkansas, she was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Addison Ross McConnaughey of Rogers, Arkansas; six of her seven siblings, Ruth Thompson (Orval) of Bentonville, Arkansas; Ralph McConnaughey (Aileen) of Des Moines, Washington; James McConnaughey (Moselle) of La Marque, Texas; George Donald McConnaughey (Melba) of Seattle, Washington; Joann Barker of Rogers, Arkansas; and Ted McConnaughey of Rogers, Arkansas; and by her husband of 44 years, Rev. C. Murray Lancaster, Jr. She is survived by her son, William Robert “Bill” Lancaster (Angie) of Mobile; and her sister, Susie McConnaughey Baker (Franklin) of Odessa, Missouri; as well as by her grandchildren, Dr. William Purvis “Will” Lancaster of Charleston, South Carolina; Leigh Lancaster Terrell (Frank) of Mobile; and Joshua West “Josh” Lancaster (Amy) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday February 1 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 151 S. Ann St., Mobile, Alabama, with interment to follow at the church. After the service there will be a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, Habitat for Humanity, or a charity of your choice.

Nancy was a compassionate and talented friend to all who knew her, particularly her family and friends in the Azalea City Quilters Guild, the Sassy Stitchers, and the All Saint’s Choir. The family gives thanks for the wonderful and compassionate care of Nancy by Dr. Martin Lester, Dr. Michael O’Dowd, and Gracepoint Home Care, especially Miss Kelly, Alisha Young, Dorothy Lewis, Darnisha Perkins, Amiah McMillan, Tiffany Mosley, and Genesis Collins.
