Jack, loving husband, caring father and active community member of Newark, suddenly passed away on January 27, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 25 in Cambridge, Ohio to Alfred and Ann (Davis) Dougherty.

Jack met his wife, Carol, on a blind date and enjoyed her companionship through 65 years, this last decade serving as her caregiver living together at Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus.

Jack enjoyed water skiing, river trips, and golfing with his family and friends. His children will always appreciate his volunteering in their organizations including the Boy Scouts and Biddy Basketball.

Jack was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and Trustee. He was an active member of the Jaycees and was the Chairman of the Board for the Ohio Chapter of The American Diabetes Association where he led many fund raisers.

He was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Case Institute of Technology and George Washington University.

Jack served our country in the United States Air Force as a Radar Technician. He retired from the Newark Air Force Base where he served as a Civilian Engineer, Engineering Manager and, most recently, as the Manager of the AF Primary Standards Laboratory where his work cumulated with the standardization of measurement for the USAF. Jack was well known for his optimism and for finding opportunities to help others while embracing challenges. His infectious approach inspired others.

Jack is survived by his wife, Carol (Morrow) Dougherty; two sons, Richard (Valerie Gault) Dougherty and William (Kandie Carr) Dougherty; granddaughters, Mallory, Erin, Holly and Kerry; and a brother, George Dougherty.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Dougherty.
