Phyllis Lyons Obituary

Phyllis M. Lyons, 96, of West Haven entered into rest on January 17, 2023.  She was the wife of the late William Lyons, Sr.  Mrs. Lyons, a daughter of the late Carmen and Marie Saffioti Pisano, leaves three children Patricia Avery, Denise Shepard and Robert (Holly Hawtin) Lyons; three grandchildren Danielle Shepard, Jonathon and Nicholas Avery and a brother Gennaro Pisano.  She was predeceased by her son William Lyons, Jr., and siblings Rose D’Onofrio, Sara Cameron, Michael Iovene and Vincent Pisano.

Phyllis involved herself in numerous clubs and activities including the West Haven Garden Club, St. John Vianney Social Club, VA Retirees NARF #257, West Haven Italian American Ladies Auxiliary and was on the board at the West Haven Senior Center as their secretary. She retired as a secretary from the VA.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday February 1, 2023 from 8:30 to 10:30 at the West Haven Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Vianney Church of St. John XXIII Parish, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. West Haven at 11 o’clock.  Interment of cremains will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Special Olympics of CT, 2666 State St., #1, Hamden, CT. 06517.
