<p>Walter Dale Knighton, 79 of Newton passed away Tuesday January 24, 2023 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday January 28, 2023 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Sand Ridge cemetery in Newton County.&nbsp; &nbsp;Visitation will be 5-8 pm Fuday, January 27.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Born December 12, 1943 to Edwin Knighton and Josie (Love) he lived most of his life in Newton.&nbsp; &nbsp;He served in the Army and later worked in a shipyard.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by wife, Betty Knighton of Bleakwood; children, Clint Knighton of Fawil, Larry Knighton and Dede of Fawil, Connie Henley and Nathan of Bon Wier, Paul Knighton and Tina of Baytown, Tonya Meche of Bleakwood; brother, Clarence Knighton of San Antonio, sisters, Geraldine Lewis of North Carolina, Sherrell Nichols of Old Salem; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Knighton and Roy Gene Knighton; granddaughter, Brandy Brumley; grandson, Tucker Jones.&nbsp;</p>

Walter Dale was always a joy to be around. His smile and warm manner reflected his walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
