Graveside services for Mrs. Onecia Haynes Burgess, 87, of Wellington, will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Minister Deborah Harper officiating. Burial will take place in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burgess met her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 23, 2023. She was currently residing at Peachtree Hills Place (The Terraces) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Preceding Mrs. Burgess in death are her husband of 68 years, Charles Curtis Burgess; her parents, Amos Haynes and Beatrice Haynes; and an infant sister, Venita Joyce Haynes.

Left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Burgess are her children, Cheryl Burgess (fiancé, Avant Woodbury) and Dale Burgess (Jodi); three grandchildren, Jason Burgess, Briana Burgess Hancock (Andrew), and Ciara Burgess; two great-grandchildren, River and Stella Hancock; her brother, Bruce Haynes (Mary); and a host of extended family.

Mrs. Burgess was a devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an example to all who knew her, exhibiting Christ’s love daily. Mrs. Burgess never wavered to read her Bible or spend time in prayer. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, and a true servant to others. Mrs. Burgess had a passion for caring for her family, especially her husband whom she took excellent care of until his time of passing. Mrs. Burgess loved music and enjoyed singing with friends and family, even singing in the last days of her life. To know her was to love her and she will be greatly missed.
