<p>Dennis Hotze, 76, of Carson, IA passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Celebration of Life services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Carson Community Center with Rev. Mike Harvey officiating. Visitation with the family will be held two hours prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the community center. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson is caring for Dennis and his family. </p><p><br></p><p>Memorials: In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established</p><p><br></p><p>OBITUARY</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis Eugene Hotze, 76 of Carson, IA, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was born on December 23, 1946, in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Cleo Harold "Bud" and Dorothy Elizabeth (Trede) Hotze. He grew up in the Macedonia area, graduating from Carson-Macedonia High School in 1965. Dennis played both baseball and basketball while attending Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, IA. After college, Dennis worked for several local farmers and in construction. He then began his career as a self-employed general contractor. He also taught Construction Sciences at Metro Community College for eleven years.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis loved to play golf. He especially loved playing with Mitch as well as other friends over the years. Despite his battle with cancer, he was able to be on the golf course through the end of September this past year. It's where he loved to be! Some of his other favorite things were going to breakfast, watching westerns, and spending time with his family and others he cared about. </p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was a wonderful dad, papa, brother and a good friend to all who knew him. He truly was kind and generous to all. There was typically a lot of laughter in the room when Dennis was around, with so many enjoying his one-of-a-kind sayings and his off-the-cuff, honest comments! His last couple months were filled with getting to tell many of you thank you and goodbye, sharing about how God saved him, and assuring us that he lived a fulfilling life without regrets.</p><p><br></p><p>Dennis was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Peggy Sick. He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Jason) Lee of Ames, IA, with grandkids Claire, Zoe, Isaiah, Abram, Asher, and Selah Lee, Kate (Mark) Ehresman of Huxley, IA, with grandkids Brady, Mya, Sydney, and Greysen Ehresman, and Mitchell Hotze of Carson; brothers, Terry (Helen) Hotze of Marion, IL, Wendell (Janell) Hotze of Carson, and Gary "Ernie" Hotze of Carson; other relatives and countless friends.</p>
