Gloria B. O'Donnell

Gloria B. O’Donnell, 94, of Vernon, wife of the late Victor Oram O’Donnell, died peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023 in Vernon. She was born in Hartford to the late Benjamin and Alice Bossi (Caine), March 4, 1928. Gloria grew up in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School class of 1946. She attended many of her class reunions until she was almost 80 years old. In fact, the Class of 1946 was so close that in the Hartford Courant, September 1, 2003, there was an article about the class, titled Time Tightens Class Bonds stating that “Growing up during World War II helped forge strong ties of Weaver’s Class of 1946”. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing, making curtains, arts and crafts and she dabbled in still life painting. She was known to be artsy and was a great cook. She worked in retail at Trim Fashions in Vernon and earlier she worked at Pratt and Whitney. When Gloria was a young girl, she spent many summers in Pine Meadow (a neighborhood in New Hartford, CT) making wonderful memories of visiting with her aunt, playing with her cousins and swimming with them in the Connecticut River. Gloria was an animal lover and had dogs and cats most of her life. She lived in Vernon for 25 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Then she and Victor moved to Berry Patch in South Windsor and were members of St. Margaret Mary Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Cathy Cerrigione and her husband Sal of Vernon, her grandson Christopher Cerrigione and his wife Nichole of Tolland, her granddaughter Andrea Graf and her husband Kurt of Coventry, her grandson Matthew Cerrigione and his wife Michelle of Ellington, her great grandchildren Cameron, Gianna, Luna, Vivienne, Vaila, Weston and Michael. She was predeceased by her son Ryan H. O’Donnell, her sister Anne Piacente, her brother Benjamin J. Bossi Sr., and her sister Barbara Letizio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, 2023, 10am, meeting directly at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the family’s request. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, Vernon.
