Elizabeth McCarthy

Elizabeth McCarthy of Bay Ridge passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2023 after a fourteen year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final days. Elizabeth was born to Julio and Lydia Fonseca on August 20, 1959 in Puerto Rico. She was the youngest of five children growing up in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Elizabeth married her husband, Michael McCarthy on September 9, 1990 and they moved to Bay Ridge together to start their family. She was dedicated and talented in her career as a hair stylist in Manhattan. Elizabeth was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. Elizabeth loved animals, music, dancing, attending Sunday Mass and spending time with her family. She is most remembered for her warmth and compassion for others.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kelvin and Julian. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael McCarthy, adored daughter, Christina McCarthy and her husband Francisco Bonet, and her cherished sisters Lillian Fonseca and Digna Fonseca.

A visitation for Elizabeth will be held Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home, 9620 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209. A funeral mass will take place Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 9511 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209.
