Barbara Claire Stinson, age 88 of Lakewood CO, formerly of Mundelein and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 22, 2023 in Englewood, CO.

Barbara was born and raised in Chicago, IL, as the middle child of Joseph and Florence Vogenthaler. She lived in Mundelein, IL from 1955 to 1971, raising her family and operating the office of Stinson Shell, before moving to Colorado for the rest of her 51 years. She was an office manager for a Golden CO sign manufacturer after managing the office of Stinson Amoco.

Barbara had a love of nature and animals and cared for many pets in her lifetime, always coming up with classic names and nicknames for her dogs especially. She was a huge sports fan, who liked to yell at the TV during games, and even screamed from the stands in her youth when her Chicago Blackhawks were skating poorly, like they had “Pianos on their backs!!”, or were too-soft-checking “Hit ‘Em with your Purse!!” Barbara loved her NFL Broncos, March Madness, golf, Olympics, soccer World Cup, and the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, where she holds the most-wins record in our family Boo Trophy contest.

Barbara is lovingly remembered and survived by her daughter Linda Scheider (Thomas), sons Joseph Stinson (Beatrice) and John Stinson (Nataliya), and daughter Nancy; sisters Jean Vogenthaler and Kathy Sincere (Francis), and brother James Vogenthaler (Judy); eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Florence Vogenthaler; parents-in-law Walter Sr. And Amy Stinson; Walter Stinson Jr.; and brother William Vogenthaler.

Barbara was an amazing person with quick wit and amazing humor, and will be missed immensely every day by many.

The family had a private service, and is planning a memorial celebration with her friends and caregivers at the Cadence Lakewood Assisted Living Home in the springtime.
