Margaret Bird Overstreet
Margaret Bird Overstreet of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away after a short illness on January 1, 2023, with her daughters by her side. <br>She was born Margaret Davis Bird in Crossett, Arkansas on July 29, 1935, to Mabel Norton and Edwin W. Bird. She graduated from Fordyce High School and attended Hendrix College, Southern Arkansas University, and Louisiana Tech before starting her teaching career.<div> <br>Margaret met John W. Overstreet in Wilson, Arkansas where they were both teaching. They married in 1957 and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1962.</div><div> <br>Margaret earned a degree in education at Arizona State University while raising three daughters. She went on to teach in the Scottsdale School District for over 25 years.</div><div> <br>She is survived by her daughters Emily Bean (Steve) of Phoenix and Elizabeth Balducci (Jay) of Chandler, her grandchildren Christopher Rowland of Gilbert, Elyse Rowland of Mesa, Nicholas Uhles (Lauren) of Chandler and Cody Dimond of Phoenix, and her great granddaughter, Olivia Rowland of Gilbert. She also leaves behind her siblings Rebecca Haley (Ben) of Ruston, LA, Samuel N. Bird (LeAnne), Allen W. Bird II (Sherry) of Little Rock, AR, and Edwin W. Bird, Jr. of Lowell, AR. Preceding her in death are her husband of 57 years John W. Overstreet and her youngest daughter Julia Dimond Grenier.</div><div> <br>Margaret used her love of history and antiques as she volunteered with the Scottsdale Historical Society and Questers. She and John love dancing and playing bridge and enjoyed a busy social life with many friends who will miss them both but are comforted that they are together again.</div><div> <br>Margaret will be remembered at services January 26, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E.
