Danielle (Griffin) Lowe "Dani" Paterson, New Jersey Obituary

Danielle (Griffin) Lowe "Dani"

It pleases me to know that so many of you have come to celebrate my life and provide support am comfort to family. I know that so many of you here to help celebrate my life.

Already home to two beautiful daughters (Allison and Kenya), I was born on March 29, 1976 to Dolores Griffin in Paterson, NJ and had the pleasure of having the best father to raise me, Mr. James Cox.

I was blessed to have two of the best Godparents any girl could ask for, Ms. Reigh Collick and Mr. Joe Clayton. We briefly spent summers with them down south with my cousins, Shareen and Zakkia. We also spent time with my dad Jimmy's family in upstate New York on their farm. In the third grade we had a project where we hatched chicken eggs and I was given mine to keep. I named him Henry. As he got bigger, we had to take him to the farm in upstate New York, only to find out that it was a female chicken. We changed the name to Henrietta. I later found out that Henrietta became a satisfying meal for the family.

Growing up in Brook Sloat Terrace provided me with lifelong relationships and wonderful memories with (Kesha Banks, Laura Staton, Shaba York, Natoma Belton and God sister Deborah Barrett). I attended the local school system in Paterson, where I took my studies seriously (my mother didn't have it any other way) and I had a very active social life with my friends, dancing, hanging out and becoming a cheerleader. The most important thing that I loved to do was to read. I continued to do that in my adult life. I graduated from J.F.K High School. After graduating, I immediately went into the workforce and then attended William Paterson University. I wanted to be a nurse.

I attended until I found out that the most remarkable thing was about to happen. In August 1996 the remarkable thing that had been brewing presented herself, my daughter Dejha was born and just two years later, mommies little man made his way in the world, Jacier. That is when I decided to start my career in banking at Washington Mutual, taking my job seriously, I worked hard and was dedicated and was rewarded with several promotions.

It was by chance that my sister Kenya and her husband (Andre) asked me to go out with them one night. I met the man who would become the love of my life and my husband, Erik. At first, I thought that he was ok (he wasn't wearing his glasses) and the next day he called, inviting me to a cookout (he did this to get me over to his house). This is when I saw him in a different light (he had glasses on). I was like, oh my, he is handsome. My sister Kenya being overprotective rolled up to the cookout to "check things out." She gave her approval and then left. We dated for a while and then we thought it was time to introduce our children to one another. We did not know what to expect because his children were a little older. That did not matter. They clicked like they have known each other forever. After meeting each other's families, we knew where our destination would be.

We were married on April 15, 2006 with a wonderful ceremony friends and family came and celebrated our union. Just the very next year, we welcomed our bundle of joy, Madison. She completed the puzzle of our family, and now we were complete. Erik, the kids, and I later purchased a house and moved to start a new chapter. Erik decided to go back to school and encouraged me to do the same, we were both diligent students, handling work, family and education.

Erik and I both graduated, he with a bachelor's degree and I with an associate degree. We then decided to kick it up a notch and further our education efforts, me with bachelor's degree and he with a Master's degree. I was pouring myself into work at J.P. Morgan Chase and had several positions, with my latest being Lead Teller Operation Supervisor. I loved the work that I did and loved the connection that I had with my coworkers and customers.

We enjoyed hanging out with the kids and listening to all of their antics, even more so when all 7 of them were present (Lemar, Shantel, Thereasa, Dejha, Jacier, Madison and our surrogate son Tyrese). We also began traveling with family from South Jersey and Pennsylvania, our group was fun and crazy. The trips to the wine and food festivals, New York and Philadelphia or just hanging out at our houses doing nothing, but loving on each other, I and they loved it. The children were getting older and we started spreading love to our grandchildren that started to arrive, our family was expanding quickly.

I continued to work and love over my expanding family, until my health became an issue, and I couldn't work any longer. I was hospitalized on Sunday, January 15, 2023, and I didn't want to be there. On Friday January 20, I came home, the place where I found solace, and on Saturday January 21, 2023 I answered the call to come home.

As much as I know my family and friends miss me and yes, I miss you all, just know this, I am fine, no more pain, no more sickness. I have a new body, cancer free, a new home and I am watching over all of you. I ask that you continue to look after Erik, my children (and grandchildren), my sisters and each other. Live life like I did, always see the good in people and treat people with kindness.

I was preceded in death by my mother, Dolores Griffin, father James Cox, grandparents Lillian Griffin Chatman, Walter Griffin and Rufus Chatman, mother and father-in-Law Sylvia Belfield and Jessie C. Lowe and several aunts and uncles.

I leave to cherish my memories, my loving and devoted husband, Erik Lowe, my handsome and beautiful children that I am immensely proud of and blessed that God chose me as their mother, Dejha B. Flood, Jacier L. Flood, Madison E.A. Lowe, Lemar Cooper, Shantel Mays and Thereasa Cooper and Tyrese Staton, grandchildren. Tatiana, Chance, Demari and Journey Cooper, Jacob Newsom, Noah Barnett, Sevyn Cooper-McDaniels, Xzavion Cooper-McDaniels and I am watching over the special gift of my soon to be granddaughter Ei'liya Aaima Johnson and baby Cooper-McDaniel. Danielle is one of the sweetest, nicest and sincere young people I know. I was always inspired by her presence sitting in the pew with her husband as we sang from the choir stage. When I stopped by her branch of Chase Bank, she would come from her desk (unannounced) just... Continue Reading
