Robert R. Raymond Obituary

NAUGATUCK - Robert Roland Raymond, Sr., 91, was called home to his final resting place on January 23, 2023. A native to Connecticut, Bob was born to John Raymond and Mary (Kelleher) Raymond on March 14, 1931, in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury, spending his earliest years being raised with his three siblings: Jack,Theresa and Frank. He graduated from Crosby High School and then attended Saint Thomas Seminary. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Bonaventure University, followed by a Masters Degree in Social Work from Boston College. Social Work then became his life, with Waterbury Hospital serving as his main employment for the better part of his career. He also maintained a private family practice. After his formal retirement, Bob continued working his private family practice, in which he helped many people throughout the years.

Bob met the love of his life, Patricia Scully, at a Catholic Graduates Club social event and they married in 1961. Together they made their home in Naugatuck, Patricia’s hometown, bringing five new lives into the world: Robert Raymond Jr, Patrick Raymond, Helen Raymond, Mary Taylor and Eileen Wilson. Bob continued to live at his home in Naugatuck, until he was called to his eternal home.

Bob affectionately passes his legacy of service on to his six grandchildren: Michael and Daniel Vardon, Andrew and Sarah Taylor, David Wilson and Tighe Raymond. His grandchildren adored him, as did his litany of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Scully Raymond, as well as his siblings: Jack and Frank Raymond and Theresa Raymond Francis who, no doubt, guided him home to eternal peace.

The family would like to thank caregivers Akelia, Virginia and Yolanda for helping care for Bob until the end.
