<p>Mr. Walter E. Simmons passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 72 years of age. He was born November 9, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Elijah and Patricia Simmons.</p><p><br></p><p>Walter was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle to many loved ones. To know Walter a/k/a “Lumpy, Lump or Nump” is to love him. His sense of humor would bring a smile to anyone in his presence. He was the best at telling jokes and humoring you with his endless stories. Walter’s pride and joy were his daughter, grandchildren, siblings as well as his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. His love extended not only to his family but friends as well. Walter was also a great cousin and friend. We will miss his smile, laughter and love. We loved him but GOD loved him more. Rest on Love…Rest on.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Walter leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Gwonder Johnson-Bruce and son-in-law, Sammie Bruce, who was like a son; his grandchildren, Jasmine and Ravion Bruce; brothers Lawrence Simmons, William (Celest) Simmons, and Ernest Atkins; sister, Patricia Bell; a host of nieces and nephews, special cousins who were like brothers, Lucius (Sherry) Wafer, and Allen (Linda) Wafer.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Patricia Simmons; aunts, Vanita Eldridge, Vashti Hicks, and Conny Rutter; uncles, William “Uncle Bill” Simmons, Austin “Uncle Whodo” Hicks; brothers, Robert Simmons , Bruce Henry Simmons, and sister-in-law, Eunice Simmons.<br></p><p><br></p>
