Angi Lay Obituary

Angela Dawn “Angi” Lay, age 67, of Stonefort, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 4:34 pm in Deaconess Midtown Hospital resulting from a motor vehicle accident. She was surrounded by her family. Angi was born on August 14, 1955 to Clyde (Nick) and Mildred (Midge) Boyd Lay. She was a lifelong member of the Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church, where she was beloved by all. Angi attended Stonefort Elementary School and graduated in 1973 from Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School. Following a mining accident in the 1970’s, she was unable to work, but volunteered for many years with Hospice Home Care.

Angi loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She loved people and was passionate about animals. Angi’s nieces and nephew would like to send special acknowledgement to her for being the best aunt possible for motorcycle rides, jumping hills on country roads, a million freezer pops, homemade suckers, sliding down the hill in the backyard, thousands of games of HORSE on the driveway, hundreds of boxes off Kraft spaghetti, thousands of art projects and all the pictures. She was one of the brightest threads of magic in a glorious childhood… until we meet again… We love you T.T.

She is survived by her brother and sister in law, Steve and Kathy Lay of Ozark, nieces; Amber Dawn (Robert) Leek, Devyn DeRay (Mathew) Kerley, and nephew, Derreck Nickolas Lay.
