A graveside service for John James Hobby will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Enterprise Cemetery with Rev. Harriet Simmons officiating. Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-Downtown is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Hobby passed Sunday January 22, 2023, at UAB Hospital at the age of 86.

He was born March 11, 1936, in Hiwannee, MS to Henry Duke and Lou Ellen Bexley Hobby. He served in the US Air Force and attended Millsaps College. He was also an avid breeder of champion collies.

He is survived by his partner, Robert Jackson Priester; sister, Alice Ann Hobby Miller; and was the beloved “Uncle Spoots” to numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.
