GALENA, KASAS: Barbara Rae Kent, age 91, passed away at 9:40 am, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Grenada, Mississippi.

Barbara was born January 8, 1932, in Galena. Her parents were Ray and Mary Ellen (Moody) Wilkerson. She had lived in Galena all her life.

She was a graduate of Galena High School. Besides being a homemaker, she worked as a seamstress in a clothing manufacturing company in Galena. Living on Shoal Creek, she enjoyed her flower gardens. She was a member of First Christian Church, Galena, KS.

Barbara was married to Billy Gene Kent on October 20, 1950, in Galena. He died September 26, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Wayne Kent, and Billly Kent Jr, one daughter, Terri McCool, two grandchildren, William Kent, and Raelyn Crouch, and two brothers, Jerry Wilkerson, and John Wilkerson.

Surviving is one daughter, Katrina McMechan (Daniel), Grenada, Mississippi; one daughter in law, Donna Kent, Chino, California; one sister, Shirley Watkins, Galena, KS; seven grandchildren, Carrie Griggs, Klarissa Renner (Noah), Jadyn McMechan, Avery McMechan, Joseph Long (Klarissa), Thomas Crouch, and Zachary Crouch (Amber); three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services are at 11:00 am, Friday, January 27, 2023, at First Christian Church, Galena, KS. Doug Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 -7:00 pm., Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Galena, KS.
