Lauren Nichole Reynolds Obituary

Lauren Nichole Reynolds, beloved partner, daughter, granddaughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin and friend died on January 16, 2023 surrounded by her family at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Lauren was 35 years old. Lauren was a native and resident of Mobile, Alabama. She leaves behind a partner, Marcus Wooley, her thirteen-year-old daughter, Victoria Noelle Cook, her parents, Julie and Gavin Deakle, her father, Mark Reynolds, her grandparents, Pete and Faye Cook, her grandmother, Pat Reynolds, her siblings, Justin Reynolds, Braxton Orso and Bria Orso. Lauren is survived by many aunts and uncles, Gordon and Gina Cook, Angela and Frank Downey, Richard and Brandi Cook, and Kevin and Donna Egan. Lauren is survived by her cousins, Ryan Downy, Gina Cook, Chloey Cook, Grayson Cook Patrick Egan, Brian Egan, and Katie Egan Ellenburg. Lauren is preceded in death by her grandparents, Glen and Fran Reynolds, and her uncle, Robbie Reynolds.

Lauren attended Murphy High School. She attended The University of South Alabama. Lauren was a certified EKG technician. Before Lauren was sick, she worked as a bookkeeper for a car dealership.

Lauren was fun, creative, and quirky. She made her friends and family laugh and giggle since she was little. Everyone has a favorite “remember when Lauren did this…”Lauren was a good sport when her brother and cousin played tricks on her. Lauren had her own personality and style and didn’t care what others thought about it. This served her well when she sported many varied wigs after chemo. Lauren loved to treasure hunt. She was always giving gifts to friends and family of treasures she thought they would like. She had fun selling her treasures online. She wanted to have her own booth in one of the antique shops when she got well. She liked to draw, color, make jewelry, crafts, decorate and pot plants. She also loved the beach. She wanted to take a family cruise to Mexico when she got well.

Lauren was diagnosed with AML in 2019. Her brother, Justin was a perfect match and she had a successful bone marrow transplant in 2020. We celebrated her 33rd birthday in the bone marrow transplant unit at UAB. The transplant had many side effects. Life was not easy for her. The AML came back in the form of a tumor in her face a few months ago. Lauren was in the hospital doing chemo all through end of November and December. This was not the first holiday she celebrated in the hospital.

She developed an infection resistant to antibiotics while in USA Hospital. She was discharged from USA on January 6th on IV antibiotics. On January 9th she had a seizure at home. She was still able to talk after she came to. She told Marcus she was ready to go HOME. Before the ambulance left, she told him if anything happened and she did not make it she would See Him on the Other Side. She had another seizure at Providence. We found out Lauren had a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was sent to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Lauren’s surgeon was able to repair the rupture. The surgeon told us the rupture was from her infection. A few days later, early morning of January 16th around 4am, her repaired aneurysm ruptured while the nurses were bathing her. After a cat scan, I was told Lauren had little brain activity. Later that evening, she was taken off her ventilator and never took a breath. Lauren fought the good fight and almost won. Her oncologist said her chemo had been successful “no more tumor”. Lauren will be extremely missed, and our world is at a loss without her. She will forever be in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Ascension Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Thursday from the chapel of Ascension Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
