<p>HOULTON - Lilla (Leta) McFarland, died on January 18th, 2023, in her 95th year, at Madigan Estates.</p><p>She was born March 28,1927, the daughter of Kenneth and Gladys Anderson.</p><p>She moved to Houlton from Crystal, ME in 1972 and took care of her grandchildren Debbie and Jimmy and also assisted with bookkeeping at Madigan.</p><p>She was a very hard worker and worked for many years at Madigan Estates after taking the first CNA course offered in the area. She took care of residents in a compassionate and loving way. She was devoted to her family making them feel special and loved. Her family was always of top priority, and she viewed her grandchildren like her own children.</p><p>She was known for her quick-witty sense of humor, fierce determination, and desire to always live independently. She impacted people with her special smile and expressions of love. She was always saying that all she wanted was for everyone to be healthy and happy.</p><p>She loved playing cards and scrabble with her special friend, Louise Smith, and loved doing crossword puzzles and the jumble with her daughter, Deanne. She had a love for animals and bird watching.</p><p>She is survived by her children Brenda Brown, Deanne and her husband Keith Hunter, and Randy and his wife Anna McFarland. Her grandchildren, Jim and his wife Kristy Brown, Debbie and her husband Jeff LaCombe, Jonathan McFarland, Jacob McFarland, Josh McFarland, Leanne and her Husband Mark Faulkingham, Stacy and her husband Patrick Paradis, and Darcy and her Husband David Smith. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Dana Brown, Jamie Brown, Erika Fitzpatrick, Samantha Paradis, Sarah Pelletier, Casey Faulkingham, Aaron Faulkingham, Justin Smith, Philip Smith, Daniel Smith, and Rosalee Merry and her great-great grandchildren Haven Smith, Levi Pelletier, Lainey Pelletier, and Addison Paradis.</p><p>Lilla was predeceased by her husband, Claude, her brothers, Vernon Anderson &amp; Ivan Anderson, her sister, Violet Ouellette, her son-in-law, Dana Brown, and her great-great grandchildren, Harper, and Hunter Smith.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ark Animal Sanctuary to honor her deep love of animals.</p><p>A Celebration/Memorial service is scheduled for January 26th at 11am with calling hours beginning at 10am at the Wesleyan Church in Houlton, Me. A reception will follow the service.</p><p><br></p>
