Donald Eugene Spurgin, son of James & Myrtle (Koepp) Spurgin, was born December 29, 1940 at Madison, South Dakota. Don graduated high school at Oldham, South Dakota.

Don served his country in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, Don returned to the Oldham area.

On August 16, 1968, Don was united in marriage to Karen E. Sapp. Don worked for over 20 years with Schwan’s Company. Don retired from Schwan’s while living in Osceola, Iowa. He continued to work part time for other people.

Don was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He was genuinely kind to everyone. Don never spoke a bad word about anyone but instead always look for the good in them. Don loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them. He supported his children and grandchildren in every area of their lives. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Don passed away on January 20, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Those left to remember Don include his loving wife Karen Spurgin of Osceola; two sons James (Christine) Spurgin and Ron Spurgin; five grandchildren Kassidy Spurgin, Landon Spurgin, Tivon Spurgin, Braxdon Spurgin, and Khloe Spoelstra; two brothers and one sister; many nieces and nephews.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr cared for the family of Donald Spurgin.
