Obituary

Thomas C. Watkins passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023 at the age of 81.

Dad spent 60 years of his life with his wife Edna, who sadly passed away February 12, 2019. He met Mom when she was 17 years old and they married three years later. Tom was born in Norristown, PA on November 14, 1941. He raised his family of three children in nearby West Conshohocken before relocating to Brogue, PA and then retiring to Horntown, VA.

Every July Dad enjoyed camping in Chincoteague, VA at Tom’s Cove Campground with his family. We would swim, fish, crab and go out on the boat water skiing. Dad would love to take the boat across the channel to feed the wild ponies; it was great fun. Dad was employed by Trane Thermal in Conshohocken for 17 years. Afterwards, he made a living driving a truck just as his father before him. Dad, Mom and their son Tommy had a trucking business together (T&T Trucking) until Dad’s retirement.

After retirement, Dad and Mom enjoyed many years singing gospel songs and performing at various local churches and nursing homes. “In His Name” ministries was their passion later in life; it gave them both great joy to serve their community through song. Dad also enjoyed cooking as well as baking his special cream puff recipe that everyone loved. He also loved his many pets, especially Max.

He was the husband of the late Edna Viola Watkins and son of the late Thomas J. Watkins and Alberta Mae O’Brien (stepfather Jack O’Brien). He is survived by his three children: Edna Rambo (Jerry), Marilyn A. Brinkman (Wally) and Thomas M. Watkins (Tammy), five grandchildren: Brian Rambo (Stephanie), Sarah Rambo, the late Cortney Bledsoe, Taylor Bledsoe and Kayla Watkins. He was Great Pop-Pop to Ava and Madison Rambo. He also had seven siblings: Tina Coghlan (Tom), the late Mary Dickson, Laurine Sessa, the late Nancy Passalacqua, John O’Brien, Billy Watkins and the late Jamie Watkins.

The family will receive relatives & friends at the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 10 to 11:30 am; with a Prayer Service starting at 11:30 am. Interment will be private.
