Danny Lee Pruitt Obituary

Danny Lee Pruitt, age 68 of Midland, Texas, went to be with the LORD on Sunday, January 15, 2023. The Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Church of Midland, located at 2608 West Neely, Midland, Texas 79705.

There's something special about a man that kids love, and old dogs follow. Danny spoiled his grandkids by sneaking them candy, always making time for them, and making them laugh. He loved diet coke and would share them with his grandkids but told them they could not have any of his diet cokes that had "XX" on the bottle top. Danny lovingly and jokingly referred to his grandkids as "donkeys and shorties" and when his grandkids got married, he would tell them he couldn't wait for them to give him some great-grand-donkeys.

Danny was a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service for 40 years and he would organize his routes so that he could say hi to his grandkids as they walked home from school. All the dogs on his route loved him and would run to greet him because he always carried milk bones in his pockets for his four-legged friends. He was also the proud "Dog Father" of 6 dogs at home.

He was a beloved uncle, also known as "Aunt Georgia Man." He was the go-to adult for wrestling at family gatherings. His signature move with both his grandkids and his nephews was to tie the toes of their socks together so tightly that barely anyone could get them undone. If you did manage to get them undone, they were never the same.

Danny loved the outdoors, loved fishing, and loved sharing his passion for fishing with everyone. He would tell his grandkids, "When you go fishing, make sure you listen to the worm screaming and apologize as you push that hook through his backside, and if he's too long, you've got to rip that sucker in half." He may have told them that story on purpose to protect the sanctity of his fishing time because very few of his grandkids ever wanted to fish again after hearing Poppee's sage advice.

Danny was born on May 10,1954 in Midland, Texas to Woodrow Wilson Pruitt and Myrtle Alice Hurt Pruitt, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are his brothers Clifton Allen Pruitt and Jerry Lyn Pruitt, and his sister, Patricia Elaine Wright. He is survived by his wife Georgia Lee Pruitt of Midland, TX, who he has known and loved since he was 13-years-old. He is also survived by his daughter, Heather Leanne Fay (husband, Justin Fay) of Princeton, TX, his son, Nathan Robert Pruitt of Midland, TX, his son Ryan Adam Pruitt (wife Holly Pruitt) of Fulshear, TX, his grandchildren Kaitlyne Radford, Krysten Armstrong, Cameron Fay, Avery Pruitt, and Emerson Pruitt, brother Michael Paul Pruitt and sister, Norma Jean Treadway.
