John Ben Murphy, Sr., age 90, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, passed away January 11, 2023 in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born on February 25, 1932 in Burnville, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Charles Ben Murphy and Mary Cecilia Jenkins Murphy.

John was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, West Arkansas Community College, and Arkansas Tech University, a member of the South Crossroads Community Church, a retired Trooper for the Arkansas State Police, a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War, a security guard for Con Agra Foods. He was a member of the Arkansas State Police Retirees Association, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Sugarloaf Masonic Lodge #414, a member of the Scottish Rite & York Rite, a member of the Eastern Star, and the Shriners.

He is survived by his wife Doris Murphy, his son John Ben Murphy, Jr. and his wife Chasity, grandchildren Bridgett Jennings and her husband Michael, Ben Murphy, and Brooke Murphy, and his great-grandchild Emerald Jennings. Mr. Murphy is also survived by his other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Olmstead Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Rolland, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00pm in the Mount Harmony Cemetery in Greenwood, Arkansas with Masonic Rites, and honors by the Arkansas State Police Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Irvin Green, Jody Rackley, Michael Jennings, Lloyd White, Scott Hartsfield, and Ben Murphy. Honorary Pallbearer will be Sonny Cagle.
