Juanita Meredith Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Juanita Meredith, 95, of Oxford, will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Oxford Church of Christ. Brother Charles Box will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow the service in Forestlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Meredith went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Meredith; parents, Earl and Eddie Violet Kirkland; brothers, Charles, Robert, and Pat Kirkland.

She leaves behind her children, Mary Hodge (Dennis) and Thomas Earl Meredith (Rebecca); grandchildren, Alana Hodge Zamora (Nic), Jacob Meredith (Savannah), James Russell Meredith, and Dennis Hodge, Jr. (Latosha); nieces, Wanda Sanders, and Debbie Lowe; and her close friends of 60 years, Braxton and Martha Jones.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Meredith, Russell Meredith, Buster Hughes, Gerald Jones, Lonnie Jones, and Sammy Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Tumlin “Pop”, Louis Higgins, Braxton Jones, and Dr. Vance Moore.

Mrs. Meredith was born in Fayette County, Alabama. She was baptized into Christ at the age of 14. She married in 1956. She was a lifelong member of the Oxford Church of Christ. She was very involved in Mrs. Fannie’s ladies’ class, ladies sewing group, and the monthly ladies devotional group. She worked at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind as the secretary for 5 years. She was a member of the Alabama Council for the Blind and the Anniston Council for the Blind. In her free time, she enjoyed reading books, writing poetry and short stories, and listening to music.
