<p>HOULTON,&nbsp;Bertram&nbsp;A.&nbsp;Magnus, 90, passed away on December 29, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1932, in Jamaica, NY, the son of&nbsp;Bertram&nbsp;P. and&nbsp;Stefanie Haltis&nbsp;Magnus.</p><p><br></p><p>A graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, Class of 1953, he spent many years serving in the Merchant Marine as well as proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. After spending many years in the Navy and Merchant Marine,&nbsp;as well as owning his own business,&nbsp;he finished his working career with the U.S. Customs Service, reaching the rank of Area Port Director before his retirement. He was also an active member for many years of the Houlton Rotary Club, Monument Lodge, and Anah Shrine Club.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his son, Andrew&nbsp;Magnus, of Houlton and his grandson, Ian&nbsp;Magnus, as well as his brother Carl, and his sisters, Margie, Betty, and Arlene.</p><p><br></p><p>He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, William.</p><p><br></p><p>A funeral service will be announced in the spring. Obituary

HOULTON, Bertram A. Magnus, 90, passed away on December 29, 2022. He was born on May 25, 1932, in Jamaica, NY, the son of Bertram P. and Stefanie Haltis Magnus.


A graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, Class of 1953, he spent many years serving in the Merchant Marine as well as proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. After spending many years in the Navy and Merchant Marine, as well as owning his own business, he finished his working career with the U.S. Customs Service, reaching the rank of Area Port Director before his retirement. He was also an active member for many years of the Houlton Rotary Club, Monument Lodge, and Anah Shrine Club.


He is survived by his son, Andrew Magnus, of Houlton and his grandson, Ian Magnus, as well as his brother Carl, and his sisters, Margie, Betty, and Arlene.


He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, William.
