Charles S. Brabble,Sr. Obituary

On Friday January 5, 2023, God chose another beloved on for his Kingdom. That loved one was Charles S. Brabble, Sr. Charles was born in the city of Chesapeake (formerly Norfolk County) on January 14, 1925 to the late John Ellis Brabble, Sr. and the late Lelia Allen Brabble.

He was the youngest of eight children.

Charles was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School, Portsmouth, Virginia; and attended A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina where he received a B.S. degree in Science and Social Studies. Later he received a M.A. degree in School administration from Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. He further studied at the University of Virginia, Old Dominion University, College of William and Mary and Norfolk State University.

Upon graduation from A&T State University he accepted a job as teaching-principal in Deep Creek Elementary School on Galberry Road (Chesapeake, Virginia). He was the first principal of George W. Charles was a former member of Divine Baptist Church for over 10 years. While there, he served faithfully and was a dedicated member. He considered his most significant contribution to Divine Baptist Church as a member of the building committee, budget committee Treasurer and Trustee. Because of his commitment to Christ, the joy of unselfish giving is what he rendered. He later became a member of First Baptist Church South Hill.

Charles was a person who was always willing to help whatever the need. His warm smile and caring spirit served as a constant reminder of his capacity to love. The needs of his family were always first in his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend. His passing will leave a void, but these are fond memories that each of us will carry as we reflect on the life of him. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Charlette, a son, Charles, Jr., three grandchildren, Jeremiah, Courtney and Kelly; three great grandchildren, Jiani, Nori and Roman; one sister, Clara B. Miller and a host of nieces, cousins and devoted friends.

His quiet and peaceful spirit touched each of us in a very special way. We thank God for allowing him to be a very special part of our lives. He will be with us forever.
