Randall Dean Herrod, 68 of Wetumka, Oklahoma passed away on September 22, 2017 at his home in Wetumka, Oklahoma.

Randy was born on September 19, 1949 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Peggy (Self) Snow and Robert Andrew Herrod Jr. He was part Mvskoke Creek, Kaw, and Citizen of Pottawatomie Nation to which he was enrolled.

Randy joined the United States Marine Corp after graduating from Calvin High School. Randall served our country honorably in the United States Marine. He served as a 0311 Rifleman with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division of Vietnam from 1968 through 1970. Service awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, RVN Cross and Gallantry Medal with palm and frame, Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Silver Star Medal, and Purple Heart Medal. Following his discharge, Randy remained active in various activities and organizations which supported Veterans Groups.

Randy held many professions and titles in life such as Author, Teacher, Policeman, Light Horseman, Coach, Athlete, Champion Angler, Archer, and a Marshall Arts Instructor to name a few.

He enjoyed cooking his famous BBQ, playing cards, fishing, hunting, sports, watching old western movies, and making countless memories with his family. He adored his grandchildren and being a part of their school and athletic activities. As many know, Randy had a gift of "Gab", he never turned down a conversation, never knew a stranger, and had a big heart. He is well-known for his outgoing, outspoken, and hospitable personality.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents Robert A. Herrod Sr and Elnora J. Herrod, and Alvin and Beatrice (Aldridge) Self, parents Robert Herrod Jr. and Peggy Snow, brother Michael Smallwood.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years Paula (Barnes) Herrod of the home, children five sons and their spouses; Ryan and Kaliko Herrod, Hillus Herrod, Anthony and Ronalda Herrod, Thomas Alvin and Jordan Herrod, and Raen Joel Barnes, two daughters Tia Herrod and Hyatt Herrod, 15 grandchildren; Koda, Lyle, Kora, Kris, Courageous, Kaiya, Leila, Mvhayv, Kogee, Phillip, Ka"inoa, Lucas, Kiera, Sam, JR and 1 on the way, 5 great-grandchildren; Ezekial, Kalvne, Takoda, Dakari, and Evander, brothers Chris and Francis Herrod, Robin Herrod, and Kent and Rose Snow; sisters Rhoda Herrod and Bobbie Herndon, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins a host of other relatives and friends.

A wake service is scheduled for 7:00PM on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Salt Creek Indian Baptist Church in Wetumka. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30AM on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Salt Creek Indian Baptist Church. Pastor JB Fish will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Thomas Herrod, Anthony Herrod, Hillus Herrod, Ryan Herrod, Alex Deer, Koda Hatley, Courageous Herrod, and Raen Barnes. Honorary bearers will be Jonathan Herrod, Kristopher Herrod, Melvin Gibson, Tinker Jones, Kent Snow, Chris Herrod, Gary Linton, Virgil Franks, and Nathan Anderson. Interment will follow at the Barnes Family Cemetery with full military honors by the Seminole Nation Color Guard and Mvskoke Creek Nation Color Guard. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
