Clement Vincent Pane Obituary

On Sunday, November 27, 2022, C. Vincent Pane, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and teacher, passed away at the age of 83.  Vince was born in Brooklyn, NY to Frank and Teresa Pane. He graduated from Brooklyn Tech, class of 1957, and continued his education at Hofstra University where he earned his Bachelors ‘61, Masters ‘68 and Education Doctorate ’96.  After participating in ROTC at Hofstra, he served in the Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas where he met his wife of 59 years, Patricia Ervin. They wed at Fort Myer in Virginia in historic November 1963. https://www.newsday.com/long-island/li-life/love-story-patricia-and-c-vincent-pane-massapequa-b32481. Together they raised three children, Vincent, Patrick, and Peggy in Massapequa, New York.  They were a model for their children of a loving marriage.

Vince will forever be remembered as a caring teacher and coach.  He was chairman of the math department at Plainedge High School for more than 30 years, imbuing his love for teaching and the value of education in his children.  He was also a Professor, teaching math and education as an adjunct at Hofstra, and then full-time at Molloy College after retiring from Plainedge. Vince was also a runner, who competed on the track teams at Brooklyn Tech, Hofstra, the Army, and coached cross-country and track & field at Plainedge HS. He was also a founding member of the Massapequa Road Runners.  Vince was a dog-lover, a prolific gardener, and a chocoholic.  He made fresh, home-made pizza every Saturday night and loved to dance to 50’s music.

Vince was preceded in death by both his parents and adored beagles Happy and Daisy.  He is survived by his wife Patricia, his three children and their families, Vincent and Tricia Pane, Ryan, Alexandra Diaz, and Dylan; Patrick and Anna Pane, Alicia and Patrick; and Peggy and Ralph Tufano, Tyler, Lia, Emma, and Stone.  He is also survived by his sister Joan Priestap and her husband Terry.

A funeral mass will be held on January 13, 2023 at 10:30 at Church of Our Saviour, 5301 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, Fl 32931.  Burial will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, Fl 32754.  A Celebration of his life will also be planned for June 24, 2023 in New York with details to come.
