Lois Lacock Obituary

Lois Anita Dubbe, daughter of Rev. Herman John Henry Dubbe and Augusta Amelia (Wegner) Dubbe, was born December 1, 1921, in Milford, Nebraska. She passed away on January 1, 2023, at her home near Diagonal, Iowa, at the age of 101 years.


Lois graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1939 and attended business school for two years. She was employed as a secretary and worked several years at Fort Dodge Laboratories. Lois was united in marriage to Wayne Lacock on May 25, 1949, in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed and raised registered Black Angus cattle northwest of Farnhamville until moving to town in 1986. They raised three children: James Lacock of Fort Dodge, Ann (Jim) Werner of Diagonal, and Linda Gabriel of Sarasota, Florida.


Lois was active in bridge club, pinochle club, and women’s club. She loved music and sang in the Fort Dodge presentation of the Messiah for several years. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, playing the piano, and following the activities of her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful and much-loved mom and grandma.


Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Wayne; a sister, Miriam Bybee; and brothers-in-law, Mel Mandelko and Dave Bybee.


Survivors include a sister, Corinne Mandelko; son James; daughters Ann and Linda; five grandchildren, Christina (Jeremy) Mauthe, Becky (Craig) Hays, Bonnie (Will) Larson, Clint (Marci) Werner, and Joe (Heather) Werner; fifteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.


Memorials are to EveryStep Hospice in Mount Ayr, Iowa.


A private service will be held on Wednesday, January 4. Burial will be on Thursday, January 5 at Cedar Township Cemetery near Rinard, Iowa.
