Andrew P. McNamara, of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully on December 27. Andrew was born in Washington, D.C., the sixth son of the late Joseph M. and Alice P. McNamara, and grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He attended Blessed Sacrament School, Gonzaga College High School, and later graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Andrew worked for many years in the financial industry both in New York and Washington, D.C., including at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo. Andrew is survived by his spouse, Victoria Starbuck, his siblings Joseph (Lois), David (Amy), Jerome (Mary Jo), Peter (Judy), James (Kathy), and Mary Alice (Tim), as well as many loving nieces and nephews, the extended McNamara and Porter families, and a large group of loyal, lifelong friends. Andrew enjoyed the annual Porter and McNamara golf trips, his dog Sammy, and long walks through his beloved Rock Creek Park and Washington, D.C. neighborhoods. Always a unique force of nature, Andrew will be missed by so many here as well as welcomed by so many above. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Andrew’s memory can be made to Gonzaga College High School, 19 Eye Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001.



A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am (visitation beginning at 10am) on Saturday January 7, 2023, at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 5949 Western Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20015.
