William Lee (Bill) Allen, age 94, of Chester, IL and a long time resident of Carrier Mills, passed away Sunday afternoon in Memorial Hospital in Chester. Bill was born in Carrier Mill on September 6, 1928 to Charles and Bertha (Wollard) Allen. He was a Baptist by faith and was baptized many years ago at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Bill worked at the family owned Allen Shell Service Station in Harrisburg, IL until he retired when the service station closed in 1993. He moved to Chester, IL in his later years to be near his brother and niece.

Bill is survived by his brother, George Allen of Chester and his niece, Pam (Greg) Krantz of Chester, IL. His great nephews, Chad (Jenny) Krantz and Brett Krantz. Great-great nieces and nephew Sophia, Kinley and Garrett Krantz.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles (Mary) Allen Jr. and Robert (Karlene) Allen, and sister-in-law Norma (Owen) Allen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29,2022 at 11:00A.M. in the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, IL. Rev. Harl Cockrum will officiate and burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
