<p>Richard Lee Parmer, Jr., age 37, of Lineville, formerly of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Tanner East Alabama in Wedowee.</p><p><br></p><p>A private funeral service will be held at a later date with burial at Randolph Memory Gardens.</p><p><br></p><p>Survivors include his parents, Ricky and Rita Parmer of Roanoke; twin sister, Lynn Parmer of Roanoke; grandfather, Frank Crowe of Roanoke; and a host of special friends from college. </p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Parmer was born on April 7, 1985, at LaGrange, Georgia. He graduated high school from LaGrange Academy. He earned a BA in English and History, graduated Magna Cum Laude, Honors in English, with a minor in Biology from Presbyterian College. He earned an MA in English from East Tennessee University and a PhD in English from the University of Kentucky. He was a professor with the University of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by grandparents, C. L. (Lee) and Janett Parmer; grandmother, Frances Crowe.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Presbyterian College (503 S. Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325) or the Randolph County Animal Shelter (104 Animal Shelter Road, Wedowee, AL 36278).</p>
