Dorothy Faye Lane Obituary

Dorothy Dickens Lane was born August, 14, 1933, to George Dickens and Fleter Mae Taylor in Kosse, Texas. She was a part of a blended family of 24 children. She met and married Willie “Billy” Lane, Jr. in 1952, and afterwards moved to Midland, Texas.


Dorothy loved the Lord and served faithfully as a member of Alexander Temple Church of God in Christ until her health failed. She diligently served as the Sunday school secretary for many years. She also was an active member of Young Women Christian Counsel (YWCC). She was a Domestic Matron for the majority of her life, and worked for the family of William B. Blakemore for over 40 years.


Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents George and Fleter Dickens, her husband Willie “Billy” Lane; children Frank Rogers, and Cynthia Hall; brothers Herman, Clarence, and George Dickens, Benny Lee, Larry, Charles, and Earl Graves; sisters Stella Warren, Annie Smith, Jerald Dean Smith, Betty Jackson, and Daisy Dickens.


Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, daughters Essie Horn (Louis), Faye Rogers (Herslee), and Darlene Moore all of Midland, Texas, and Carla Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sons Robert Lane (Eddie Faye), and Norris Lane (Claudia) both of Midland, Texas; sisters Catherine Byrd of Dallas, Texas, Joyce Cooper (Sonny), and Martha Jackson of Indio, California, Robbie Dickens of Los Angeles, California, Sharon Dickens of Midland, Texas, Linda Bailey (Boyd) of Desoto, Texas, and Portia DeLoach (Charles) of Lancaster, Texas , and Barbara Graves of Dallas, Texas; brothers Billy Dickens of Los Angeles, California, James Dicken (Currine), and Carl Dickens (Cindy) both of Midland, Texas and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.


Receiving of family and friends will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Avalos-Sanchez & Thomas Funeral Home. Funeral services for Dorothy will be Friday, December 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander Temple Church of God in Christ. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
