Betty j Fuquay, 94, a resident of the Vernonia community, late of Forest Grove, died Friday morning, October 27, 2017. Interment was held at the North Cemetery at Clear Creek in Vernonia on Wednesday, November 1 at 12 PM. Betty Fuquay was born April 29, 1923 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the daughter of Lester Robert Horrisberger and Eva (Calhoun) Horrisberger. She was raised and received her education in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, having graduated with the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Frank Eugene Fuquay, Jr. on October 9, 1943 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Following his retirement from the US Navy in 1960, they moved to Oregon, settling in the Vernonia community. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on January 31, 1986 in Vernonia, Oregon, after celebrating over forty-two years of marriage together. She moved to her current home at the Jennings McCall Retirement Community in Forest Grove in 2011, where she resided. Among her special interests, she enjoyed bowling, the beach and traveling with friends. She was an active member of the Multnomah Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the Revolution), having served as secretary. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eva Horrisberger, and her son, Duane E. Fuquay. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Glenna Fuquay, granddaughter Catherine and grandson Kevin, of Tualatin, Oregon; her sister, Mildred Stultz, and niece Virginia Young, both of Prescott, Arizona.
