Clayton Edward Meade 80, of Stepptown, WV passed away on December 16th , 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV to go to his eternal home in heaven. He was born January 13th , 1942 in Mingo County, WV to Lawrence and Carmen (Cline) Meade who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda Meade, siblings, Lawrence Meade Jr., Christine Meade, Herbert Meade, Ray Meade and Ruth Burton.

Clayton was a longtime member of the Neely Branch United Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving children, Deborah Hale of Washington, Lisa John (Edward Lanham) of Louisiana, and Donna Meade of Winnie, Texas. He also leaves four step children that loved him dearly, Thelma and David Moore of Inez, KY, Johnny Ray and Shelia Kay Jude of Fort Gay, WV, D.J. Jude of London, Ky and Stacie and Kevin Dials.

Clayton is also survived by his siblings, Louise King of Eden, North Carolina, Janie (Doug) Jeffery of West Van Lear, KY, Nadine (Mark) Bowen of Lavallette, WV, Nancy (Estill) Jarvis of Tutor Key, KY, Roger Meade of Kermit, WV, and Bernice Meade of Keysville, VA.

He is also survived by several grandchildren, step grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom he loved. Also, nieces and nephews who loved him and his fur baby, Bella, that he loved dearly.

Clayton joined the Army when he was seventeen. He gave 23 years of his life serving his country that he loved. He did two separate tours in Vietnam. He received many medals and was a E-7, Army Sergeant First Class, when he retired with a Honorable Discharge He was stationed in several different countries and many U.S. States. He wore his uniform with pride. After retirement he works for several years in a military store.

Viewing will be Monday December 19, 2022 at 5:00pm for family and 6:00pm-9:30pm for friends at Mullins Family Funeral Home in Warfield, KY. The funeral will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday December 20, 2022 with Russell Ball officiating. A military service will be observed to honor his years of service. Burial will follow at the Maynard Cemetery in Pigeon Roost, KY, where he will be laid beside his beloved wife, Linda. He will be missed.
