Mark A. Worzalla Obituary

Mark A Worzalla, age 72, of the Town of Bevent, WI, died December 8, 2022 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Mark was born March 23, 1950 to the late John and Irene (Lake) Worzalla in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up in the area and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1968.

He married Sharon Stommel on March 30, 1968, and they began a family together. They enjoyed 28 years together until she passed away in 1996. On July 9, 2005 Mark married Barbara Zick (Gagas), and together they extended their family, and countless memorable moments.

Mark will certainly be remembered for his dedication, perseverance, and practical nature. He was proud to be an American, and an American worker. His dedication to provide opportunities for his family emanated from his 40 year career at Consolidated Papers as a welder. Mark also gave back to the community in the form of volunteering on the Whiting Fire Department, serving as a Boy Scout leader, the Central Wisconsin Credit Union board and most recently with the Lions.

Mark enjoyed family time, leisure, and comradery with his friends both old and new. One of Mark’s favorite hobbies during the summer was travelling to local classic car shows where he proudly displayed his unique 1955 Pontiac Cheiftain, two door wagon. In 2019, Mark completed his goal of visiting all 50 states. Above all that could describe Mark and his life, his love for his family/friends was prominent and will eternally live on. -He was truly a “man of principle”.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Worzalla; children, Christopher (Brenda Sommers) Worzalla, Sara (Luis) Ortiz, Brian (Kelly) Zick, Kevin Zick, Amy (Braden) Knutson, and Jessica Worzalla; 7 grandchildren; brother, David (Barbara) Worzalla; nieces and nephews; extended family members; several “life long” and numerous friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; and daughter, Angela.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation will be made in Mark’s honor.

A Life Celebration and Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Boston Funeral Home in Stevens Point, WI.
