ACUSHNET – Maria Angelina (Bento) Fidalgo, 86, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at home, surrounded by her loving family, following a period of declining health. She was the wife of Jose C. Fidalgo with whom he shared 63 years of marriage and daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Vieira) Bento.

Mrs. Fidalgo was born in Furnas, São Miguel, Açores and resided in Acushnet. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, but most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family includes her husband, Jose C. Fidalgo of Acushnet; 8 children, Ana Furtado and husband Nelson of New Bedford, Antonio Fidalgo and wife, Kathy of Acushnet, Luis Fidalgo and wife, Elizabeth of Dartmouth, Grace Fidalgo and companion Manuel Carvalho of New Bedford, Maria E. Fidalgo and husband, Jose Ramalho of Acushnet, Isabel deSousa and husband, Jose of Acushnet, Cidalia Fidalgo of Florida, and Lina DeJesus and companion Gil Rodrigues II, of New Bedford; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are omitted. A Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.  Kindly go directly to the church.  Interment in Acushnet Cemetery.
