Ouida Jean Knapp

Ouida Jean Knapp, age 85, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, surrounded by her husband and children in Red Oak, Texas. Born April 1st, 1937, in Melbourne, Arkansas to the late James and Montine, she was the oldest of three. Ouida graduated from high school and began working. She would later meet the love of her life, Richard and the two were married in 1975. Once married they moved to the Red Oak area where her and her husband opened their own business. She would eventually find a place at the Dallas County Tax office as their cashier until retirement. Having five children, Ouida was one heck of a cook and never learned to cook for less than a large family. Her kids and family were her world to whom she was affectionately devoted. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, it’s the time of year that all the kids and their families came together. She loved waking up and having to walk over all the kids and grandchildren sleeping all over the house, even sometimes ending up under her bed. You could often find Ouida in her garden where she had a green thumb and no favorite flower because all flowers were her favorite. Ouida and Richard being married for 47 years they were very best friends, they did everything together to including dragging Richard to JC Penny’s to shop for a must have item and he would be in the car with the AC on waiting until she came out empty handed. As wonderful as a mother that she was, she was an even more amazing grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride. Ouida will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Ouida is preceded in death by her parents James and Montine.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard Knapp of Red Oak, Texas; her children: daughter Debbie Rothrock of Crossroads, Texas, son Mike Weatherford and spouse Sheryl of Virginia, son Phil Weatherford and spouse Laura of Kansas City, Missouri, son David Weatherford and spouse Amy of Leonard, Texas, daughter Kathy Powell of Mansfield, Texas, stepson Eddie Knapp of Kansas City, Missouri, Stepson Mark Knapp and spouse Laura of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren: Brandy, Bryan, Kari, Kristin, Lauren, Sean, Brittany, and BB; great-grandchildren: Bailey, Addie, and Mia; siblings: sister Lolita Hill and spouse Clarence of Maybank, Texas and brother Wayne Gillihan of Melbourne, Arkansas.
