Death claimed the life of Jane Marlene Johnson on December 5, 2022. She was born on January 13, 1933 in Harrisburg, Illinois.

Following graduation from Carrier Mills High School in 1951, she graduated from Murray State University in 1957, and Oakland University in 1975.

She married Dr. Charles L. Johnson on August 29, 1954 and gave birth to two daughters, Lisa Ann and Gina Lynn. She is the grandmother to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She served in education for 30 years as a high school vocal music teacher and later as high school guidance and counseling director.

Marlene loved to travel, and they did so extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Hawaii and South America. They also enjoyed 28 cruise ship excursions together.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Absher Nicholson Funeral Home, 106 E. Walnut Street, Carrier Mills, Illinois 62917. Revs. Harl Cockrum and Ryan Beck will officiate with burial to follow in the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills.  A time of visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home.
