Lloyd James Pinsent

Passed peacefully on December 4 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St John’s, NL. Born in Buchans December 12, 1942, to the late Florence (nee Pollett) and Albert Pinsent of Dildo. Predeceased by siblings Guy, Jean Sanger, Elaine (Cheri) Verbiski, Gerald and Bruce, as well as former wife Joan (nee Follett). Lloyd began work straight after high school with the ASARCO mine in Buchans, as an underground surveyor and mine rescue trainer, until 1980. In the early eighties, he took on occupational health and safety roles with various mines and Fishery Products International, before starting a career in the public service at the Department of Labor, OHS Training and Inspections Branch, until retirement in 2007. He loved to travel to remote corners of Newfoundland and Labrador, with not many places missed; but he will be missed by many. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre as well as Dr. Stephanie Genge and the nurses and staff in the ER and on 7 east at St. Clare’s for their exceptional care and compassion.

There will be no public service or visitation, by request. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Care Foundation.
