Tracy French Obituary

Rangeley – Tracy French, 57, of Allen Street in Rangeley, died early Monday morning at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

She was born in Natick, MA, January 7, 1965, a daughter of Daniel (Francis) Brady and Nancy Barr. She was a 1983 graduate of Newton High School in New Jersey and a 1990 graduate of Sussex Community College with a degree in nursing. On Sept. 7, 1991, she married Russell French and they made their home in Kennebunk where she worked as a geriatric nurse at nursing homes across southern Maine. She loved working with older patients and caring for their needs before retiring due to her cancer diagnosis.

In 2016, she and her husband traveled to Rangeley where he was applying for the Police Chief position and while coming over the “Height of Land” felt that she had made it to “Heaven” and “God’s Country.” She enjoyed her home, watching the birds and wildlife that would make their presence known from birds, to ducks, to deer and admiring the North Star that she felt was there for her. She loved her family and the Christmas season, especially the decorations and all of the lights that her husband has become famous for outside of their home. She attended the Rangeley Baptist Church and participated in the Bible Study group at the Church.

She is survived by her husband Russell of Rangeley; son, Russell French, Jr. of Rangeley; daughter, Acadia French of Rangeley; grandson, Declan Duquette of Rangeley; sisters, Cheryl Wolf of Randolph, NJ and Cathleen Conant of Rock Hall, MD; brother, James Brady of Standish; an “unofficial adopted” brother, Andrew Claver of Gorham; and a close-friend that she thought of as a daughter, Erykah Condon of Rangeley. Tracy was awaiting the birth of her granddaughter in March of 2023.

Public memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from the Rangeley Free Baptist Church at 1 PM followed by refreshments. Interment will be at the Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk, in the spring. Memories and a memorial video may be shared in her Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation care and memorial services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
