Jean Everett Obituary

Jean Malden Everett, 82, of Maysville, died at home on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, following a brief illness.


She was born July 17, 1940, in Newport, Kentucky to the late Willard and Wanda Reed Malden.


Jean was a proud graduate of Fort Thomas Highlands High School and the University of Kentucky, where she received her Bachelor's degree in education and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. While Jean taught at several schools throughout her life, but she is often remembered as the kindergarten teacher at First Christian Church in Maysville.


Jean loved her adopted hometown of Maysville. She was a member of the Maysville/Mason County Planning & Zoning committee and the Board of Architectural Review. She spent countless hours serving the community through her involvement in many groups, including the Main Street Revitalization Project, the Downtown Maysville Merchants Association, the Maysville Floodwall Mural Committee and various committees at St Patrick's Church and school. She was a member of the Mason County Friendship Homemakers and the Maysville Country Club.


In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Scott Hearne.


Jean is survived by her husband of 58 years, Tom Everett of Maysville, children Thomas Everett of Newport and Madge (Scott) Hearne of Cecilia, grandchildren Carter and Anna Hearne, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
