From his daughter, Hayley:
Dad was a kind, and loving father and grandfather. He loved to write songs and play
music. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar for his grandchildren. He also loved to
watch movies and read books. He was a giving and caring Christian. We will miss him,
but we also know he is at peace with our Lord.
From his sister, Debbie:
Randy loved anything to do with the “farm.” He loved to tell stories about all the good
times we had at Grandma and Grandpa Parker’s farm. We spent almost every holiday
there. He would talk about the time (only once) that he and grandpa went fishing, feeding
the cows, Easter egg hunts and especially he liked talking about the Christmas his
fireworks got mixed up with the wrapping paper and ended up in the burn barrel.
Firecrackers were popping, Roman candles going up in the air and everyone including
our dad running for cover!
We would reminisce about the Homecomings at Pleasant Grove church and the
“singings” followed with dinner on the grounds. Randy had always wanted to own the
farm and fix up the farmhouse. Our cousin Janet made that dream come true when she
gifted him the farmhouse and surrounding property. Sadly, he never was able to do the
repairs he talked about at great length.
Randy also loved baseball and got to enjoy cheering his Astros to a world series victory
this fall. Included in his passions was a love for music. His legacy includes the many
songs he wrote and recorded (playing in the background today).
Most of all he would like for you to know about his asking Jesus to be his Savior and
Lord. Because of this we know he is with Jesus today, reunited with his dad, mom, sister,
many family members, and friends. His sincere hope was that all would make that same
life changing decision.
