Amanda Michelle O'Dell Pointer Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service for Amanda Michelle O’Dell Pointer, 47, of Anniston, will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 4:30 PM, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Eric Snider will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Michelle passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in Anniston.

Michelle is preceded in death by her grandparents, Emma Jean and Herman Woodrow O’Dell, and Dewey Faye and William Mason Portwood.

Michelle is survived by her husband of 16 years, Kevin Pointer; their two sons, Luke and Judd Pointer; her parents, Gary and Deloros (Jackie) O’Dell; her sister and brother-in-law, Jessica O’Dell and Ben Hicks; her brother and sister-in-law, Cody and Ashley O’Dell; nieces and nephews, Waylon and Lorelai Hicks, and Abram, Aila Mae, and Ada Luella O’Dell; her aunts, Sandra Bittle and Debra Freeman; and her uncle, Nathan Portwood.

Michelle was a Registered Nurse for 25 years and touched lives all around the country. She began her nursing career in the Emergency Department at Regional Medical Center for several years before embarking on a coast-to-coast adventure as a travel nurse. After two years, Michelle returned to RMC to work as an Operating Room nurse, eventually to become Operating Room Educator. Michelle was an outstanding nurse, with the ability to comfort any patient that was lucky enough to have her as a nurse and had a special talent when caring for children. Her biggest and most important role was that of wife and mother, at which she excelled. Michelle created an environment of love and acceptance at her home that was a magnet for neighborhood kids. Her unconditional love extended to her friends, and she will be greatly missed. Michelle was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Plains.

Flowers will be accepted along with donations to Luke and Judd’s college fund.

Special thanks to “The Golden Girls” of the Operating Room and Michelle’s neighbors, whom she considered the best in the world. “Thank you for being a friend”.
