John C. Dassow

<p>John C. Dassow, age 85 of Stevens Point, died November 29, 2022 at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital.</p><p><br></p><p>John was born November 8, 1937 to the late Carl &amp; Gladys (Truttschel) Dassow in Sheboygan, WI. He grew up in the Sheboygan/Sheboygan Falls area and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1955. John continued his education and attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan and graduated in 1964.</p><p><br></p><p>He joined the United States Air Force on March 5, 1957 as a Hydraulic/Pneumatic System Technician. John was honorably discharged March 4, 1963 with a Good Conduct Medal.<br></p><p><br></p><p>John married Nancy Mettelmann July 17, 1965 at Trinity UCC in Brookfield, WI.<br></p><p><br></p><p>John was employed with H.C. Prange Company in Sheboygan, A.C. Nielsen Company in Northbrook, IL, and also with</p><p>Mills Fleet Farm in Stevens Point until his retirement in 2002.</p><p><br></p><p>John was an avid Green Bay Packer &amp; UWSP Pointer Sports fan. He enjoyed camping, golfing, hiking, furniture</p><p>refinishing, &amp; reading. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; St. Johns in Sheboygan Falls and Evergreen Lodge of Stevens Point. He was an active member at Peace United Church of Christ in Stevens Point committing his time on the</p><p>church council, as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, singing on the choir, general synod delegate, and</p><p>Wisconsin conference delegate.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Stevens Point; sons, Peter (Sarah Koelemay) of Stevens Point and David (Katie) of<br></p><p>Amherst; grandchildren, Aaron, Kaleb, Atticyn, and Korra; sister-in-law, JoAnn (Kolpin) Dassow of Sheboygan Falls,</p><p>and numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>John is preceded in death by his parents, Carl &amp; Gladys (Truttschel) Dassow; and brother, Richard Dassow.<br></p><p><br></p><p>A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1756 Dixon<br></p><p>Street, Stevens Point. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the church and on</p><p>Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.</p>
