James Henry Harple III

<p>NEW BEDFORD-James Henry Harple III, 53, of New Bedford, died Saturday, November 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving friends and family following a valiant 20 month battle with glioblastoma. He was the beloved husband of Michelle A. (Abreu) Harple and son of Daniel Lee Harple and the late Josephine (Jessee) Harple.</p><p>Born in Sandusky, Ohio, he resided in Georgia, Tiverton, RI, Dartmouth and in New Bedford.</p><p>Jimmy was employed as a groundskeeper for Tree Tops, the family business until his illness.</p><p>He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan as well as a fan of Led Zeppelin and George Lynch. Jimmy loved to entertain and all who shared his company will have fond memories of his football Sundays and barbecues. He loved his pets and more than anything else, loved his grandchildren. They were the light of his life.</p><p>His family includes his wife; his father; his son, Jamison St. Gelais and his wife, Laura Pavao of Rochester; 2 daughters, Jasmine Bettencourt and her companion, Daniel Semedo of New Bedford and Janae Bettencourt and her companion, Spencer Sovik of Fairhaven; 1 brother, Daniel L. Harple, Jr and his wife, Caren of Dartmouth; 1 sister, Lori Harple of Dartmouth; 12 grandchildren, Damien Rocha, Savannah Fortes, Adrianna Andre, Saige St. Gelais, Christian Ferreira, Aubrey Sovik, Jamison St. Gelais, Jr., Ja'Colby Semedo, Kanye Semedo, Kehlani Semedo, Camila Sovik and Dani Semedo; 6 nieces and nephews.</p><p>His funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 A.M.&nbsp; Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in his memory toThe Glioblastoma Foundation at glioblastomafoundation.org.</p><p>Funeral arrangements entrusted to AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen St., New Bedford.<br></p>
