Harold “Andy” Edward Anderson, 87, of Taylorsville passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born September 1, 1935 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Georgia Ann Anderson. In addition to his mother, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherre Anderson Tolbert and her husband, Eric; his grandson, Jay Kerley; and two brothers, Rose Anderson and wife Thelma and Homer Anderson.

Harold was a veteran of the US Navy and retired as a supervisor with Centel Telephone. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt, especially deer. Harold also enjoyed working around the house, pouring concrete, and painting. He loved spending his summers with his family at the beach and on the lake in his pontoon.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Ann Leatherman Anderson; his children, Debra Kerley (Jeff), Linda Carlton, Carla Black, Carol Good (Milton), and Carson Hefner (Beth); his grandchildren, Angela Carlton, Krista Kerley, Casandra Black, Brooke Black, Phillip Kerley (Kellie), McBarrett Good, Matthew Good, McClellan Good (Abby), Moriah Good, and Hallie Barnett (Andrew); his granddaughter-in-law, Amber Kerley; his great grandchildren, Kendall Kerley, Paxton Kerley, Jase Kerley, and Elias Edmisten; his “sister”, Edna Briggs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Caldwell County Honor Guard  will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, the MDS Foundation, or plant a tree in Harold’s honor.
